Massage Helps: Seasonal Affective Disorder
The days are getting longer, but many of us still suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, during these winter months. Symptoms of SAD include:
* feeling sad, moody and anxious,
* losing interest in your usual activities,
* craving and eating more carbohydrates like sweets, breads and pasta,
* gaining weight, and
* sleeping more or having trouble sleeping.
If you or a loved one suffers from SAD, there are three things you can do to overcome SAD's negative effects:
1. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Get moving by walking, jogging, dancing or any other exercise that you enjoy.
2. Be outside for at least 20 minutes a day. Natural daylight is a big help!
3. And- you guessed it! Get a massage! Massage has been proven to help with symptoms of SAD.
